Queensland Holiday - Day 3 - The Perfect Day

This morning Benita woke up feeling really sick so her husband, Miz, had to stay home from work to look after Novak, their 3 year old son and take Jasmine, their 5 year old daughter to school. Kaz and I decided to make ourselves scarce so Benita could get some sleep without worrying about us or us being in the way!

We decided to go into South Bank in Brisbane (we are staying in the north western suburbs) by train! We had the most awesome day! Spence has never been on a train before so that was the first exciting thing! He loved it! It was abut half an hour train ride into the city stopping all stations and Spence amused himself by looking out the window, watching the people get on and off the train and watching the doors open and close then saying 'ready, set, go' for when the train should start to go again!

We got off the train and walked down towards the Brisbane River where 'The Wheel of Brisbane' is located! It is a 60 metre (200 foot) tall ferris wheel that has fully enclosed gondola type pods that provide 360 degree views of Brisbane! The ride lasts for about 12 minutes and the air conditioned pods give you a commentary on some of the sights you can see!

We took a ride on the wheel which was great! The sky was pretty clear so we had great views. We saw a giant lizard on the ground as we were waiting to get onto the ride which Spence loved!

We walked further along South Bank and Spence had a play at the playground, we then got some lunch and then went to the swimming pool that is there. It is really cool, it is a man made swimming area complete with sandy bottom pools, sand and rocks on the edges, palm trees and other exotic plants and life guards! Spence and Kaz got their bathers on and had a swim and I just paddled up to my knees and took photos!

We then got changed and had an ice cream as a special treat, then we walked back to the train station and got the train back.

The Queensland Performing Arts Centre is right near where the Wheel of Brisbane is and they have a display there at the moment which appears to be Lego men that look like they are climbing up the walls!! I thought they looked really cool and definitely not something you see everyday! So that is today's blip!!

It was such a perfect day. The weather was fantastic, not too hot, we weren't rushed at all, we didn't have to be anywhere at any time, Spence behaved really well and listened (which we have been working on) and Kaz and I really enjoyed each other's company and we had a lot of fun.

Here is yesterday's blip - Funky green spider with sunglasses!!
