Groat's Herring-Curing Station

A walk along the shores of Deer Sound today. I've photographed this place before. It is near the Point of Mirkady, the Point of Od and the Point of Scarf. Triple point score!
It was built in 1846 and I don't know what medical techniques were used but all the herring were cured by 1880 and it closed.

I think I made that joke before too. It's kippered. I carried on as far as Cullya Blet and took the road back as far as Dingieshowe where I got the bus. Think I'll keep out of the wind tomorrow.
