Toward Grimness
That's 'Grimness' with a capital, mind. Probably named for some old Viking called, well obviously, Grim.
I'd been looking for migrant birds with no luck so headed down to the shore. Winds strong from the south, the tide was coming in fast and with big waves. Got a bit wet getting too close. I walked around Grimness and onto the road near the farm called Limbo. I think the name dates from a period when bigger farms were failing and smallholdings were set up on sometimes very poor land. They'd be given ironic names; heaven or hell even. Limbo is near one of the nicest named farms...Honeygeo.
Walked to Burray village and wondered if the barrier no.1 was shut, but the bus came along. I listened to Melody Gardot on the way home. Wonder what she was doing on an Orkney bus.
