Another Unapologetic Homage to Zinc

The main part of the roof was started today.

A lorry and a trailer arrived and parked up nose to tail.

A reel of zinc unwinding from a spindle on the lorry was threaded through a mangle-like machine on the trailer which spewed out 'trays' with crimped edges.

These were laid sequentially on the roof with the edges interlocking which were then pressed together.

But all this mechanical stuff faded away when I saw the liquid beauty of the material shimmering in the watery light of the late afternoon.
