View From the Scullery

Well, this certainly beats Ruby's view (from 'Upstairs Downstairs') though you do still have to imagine the scaffolding paraphernalia removed.

Because we're having one big open living space, I did realise that it would be good to keep dirty dishes, vegetable preparation, etc. out of view hence the resurgence of an old-fashioned scullery separated from the kitchen by a sliding pocket door.

However there is no reason not to give the poor old scullery maid a view and so there is an internal opening out into the main room looking through to the verandah - very useful for passing through plates and drinks!
