Thistle Down

Dragon - Fly

O look what is coming,
T'is a big dragon-fly.
His wings are set for gliding,
And there's purple in his eye.

He's touching the willows,
With a gauzy-blue cast.
And he's so in a hurry,
To let him go past.

With a graceful wing spread,
In places that are airy.
And he takes to a perch,
With the acts of a fairy.

I stand in amazement,
Just watching to see.
Where next he'll be moving,
Will it be far from me?

O you are so beautiful,
With no gesture to shun.
If I wasn't a human,
I'd like to be one.
