Blue Ridge Morning

This image captures the feeling of this place: I stand in the middle of a historic Virgina land grant on a misty morning. Clouds cover the view of the Blue Ridge . The Shenandoah River lies just over the rise in the distance. Dilapidated stone walls are overgrown and crumbling along the hedgerows and at the edge of the woods. An occasional crow calls in the distance. I can almost sense the presence of the Civil War soldiers as they emerge from their tents and stir their fires a hundred and forty five years ago.
Seems appropriate to stand here and feel the spirit of the past on this Veteran's day 2007.
