People here often don't roast their own Sunday dinner, but buy a roast chicken or joint of pork ready cooked from the butcher. This morning in Roujan there was a lot of meat being prepared... it looks like night-time because it was so dark in the heavy rain, but this was taken at 10.30 a.m.

Apologies to vegetarians, but we think we're lucky to live within a couple of kilometres of one of the best butchers I've ever been to. I bought some very good braising steak to make a casserole with red wine and juniper berries, for when our son arrives tomorrow evening.
