Deep in thought
EDIT: T'others
I can't remember whether this was shortly before, or shortly after Anna and I both scuttled past the paintings depicting various degrees of bestiality. I know that Corin was amused by them, as his wonderfully individual giggle rang through the subdued spaces of this particular Biennial exhibition.
Making the most of our child free weekend, we nipped over to Liverpool on the train today and met up with MV and Anna for a mooch around some of the Biennial works.
Having met at St Luke's church and had a wander around in there, being papped by someone from the Fab Collective (I think) we wandered to to Mei Mei and ate a lovely meal of chinese starters, enveloped in a cacophony of sound as the local Chinese families enjoyed their family Sunday lunches. As loud as it was, I felt a little priviledged to be sat in the midst of the bustling, lively and very much family focussed environment. Food was delicious too.
For the following couple of hours, we were guided around to the Temple of 1000 Bells and then to an exhibition with a 7 metre sword hanging from the ceiling - where Anna and I decided that it would make the perfect alternative to a 'naughty step' for errant children. "Now go and sit under the sword, and just hope that today isn't the day that the rope finally frays and snaps!". Corin, unsurprisingly, was also quite taken with the copper pipework supplying the radiators that were on the ceiling!
We also watched the single track video of local people throwing stones at the Europleasure building. I hadn't noticed when we first looked that the broken windows spelled out "Touch and Go" - it was only after watched the video that I spotted it. Dur. I was tickled by how much pleasure and joy people seemed to take in throwing a stone to break a window.
More mooching, lots of photos, and a final wander to Duke Street (I think) to see a shed wedged up high between two buildings.
Coffee and a train home, after a lovely grown up afternoon. So tired - must be all the walking in the glorious sunshine.
Just uploading some to other places - will link back shortly.
