RockStars
Friday was my first paid gig as a photographer. An old aquaintance of mine is the drummer in an 80's pop cover band. Friday night was their debut public performance. So, it seemed to fit that we would work together.
The band was nervous. I was nervous. Its a little different when someone is counting on you to get the job done right.
The band members wanted me to capture the crowd and how much fun they were having. I wanted to capture the "rockstars" on stage. I had to work both angles.
Shooting a crowd in a large dark bar with flashing lights is just not easy. Matter of fact...I think it was a waste of time. But its what they wanted so I did it.
The people dancing...dont actually look like they are dancing in a picture. Those waving their arms are always blocking another's face. Someone was always walking in front of me. There's always one person with a weird look on their face, or one big white figure in a sea of black. Oh and it was about a thousand degrees in the bar and I was as drenched as the band.
Happily, I accomplished my rockstar pictures. This one was my favorite. He was singing Billy Idol's White Wedding and was really into it. And when they were done I grabbed a Guiness and enjoyed the next band. :)
