Catch of the day
Went back to Moors Valley again today for their Countryside Fair. We went with Son Two's godparents and their boys (the small squidgy one from yesterday and his equally gorgeous 2 year old brother).
Son One was desperate to have another go at fishing, after being so good at fly casting at the Hamptworth Fayre. Today's was coarse fishing, so a bit different, but this was on an actual lake with actual fish! He caught 2 roach and a perch - the biggest of the day apparently!
After a picnic lunch (and some local ale!) we investigated the other stuff on offer. In the bushcraft tent Son One had a go at lighting a fire with a flint and steel - he did a grand job and when I get round to putting them on Flickr you can see pics of that too! He also got to drive a digger!
Later on TPD decided he'd like to try fishing. He sat there very patiently for about half an hour with ne'er a nibble (though he didn't mind as he said he found it very relaxing - looks like it might become a new hobby for the pair of them). No more than 30 seconds after he'd given up, the instructor hooked a tench. TPD was marginally miffed..
Fantastic fun day out rounded off with ice cream :-)
