Abstract Eyes

Hmmm.....

Hmmmm.....I have no idea what I should call tonight's blip. Unusual for me.

We just finished cleaning every surface on the first level of our home due to EXTREME dust. And I mean extreme. Dust so white that it covered everything in sight. We blasted through one of the hardest remodel projects to date. Our slate floors. Slate that we installed ourselves eight years ago. A horrific, terrible, exhausting project today. I have white dust in my hair at this moment. I am loading my blip right now because if I don't, I won't. I think that I could sleep standing up at this point. Dramatic right now? Yes. But true.

So we tore up our slate tile floor. As we were both sweating and working the air chisel, I recalled a conversation that my husband and I had eight years ago.......

My husband: "Seriously, this slate is rock solid. I added extra nails to the backer board and extra mortar under each tile.......I feel sorry for the people that ever want to change this flooring. It is ROCK SOLID"

And fast forward eight years......

Me: "Hey remember when you were bragging about how well you laid this slate years ago? We are THOSE people. The people who are cursing your extra solid handy work right now."

Long story short, the slate is up. Every single tile. All 500 of the nails that he used when the project probably only called for 95. I pulled each and every one. But no complaining. We are actually totally on the same page right now. It has taken a lot of work and conversation to get to this point, but I'm pretty confident that we are on the same page right now.

Operation Kitchen Demolition: It's almost totally demolished at this point.
