GODWIT FEEDING

Sometimes around the traps its a bit quiet and one has to rely on the Natural History aspects of birds and their habits rather than capture the spectacular.

Here is a Bartailed Godwit feeding as they do constantly on these little perriwinkle things. This food sorce is obtained by the Godwit sticking his beak into the sand often as far as it'll go and coming up with these deliscious morsels ( yuk)
The morsals often have the entrails following - as it does in this pic.
I need to do some further research on the winkles. ??
