Tranquility
Someone mentioned that you could see Hengistbury Head from Whitsbury Churchyard some 20 miles or so away..I didn't believe him but it was a source for blipping and a lovely walk. Its a good job I am not a gambler as I would have lost - the views were fantastic and indeed Hengistbury Head was to be seen to the south.
From another part of the churchyard I found this view through the trees leading down to a lovely house.
We sat a while on a seat admiring the views and found a scrap of paper tied to the seat with this poem on it...perfect
Whitsbury Meditation
Tranquil, restful to the mind,
Leaving stress and fear behind,
Sitting here in summer heat,
On a rustic wooden seat,
Birdsong echoing around,
Souls at peace in hallowed ground.
Underneath the graceful Yew,
Sparkling with the morning dew
Whitsbury bells are beckoning-
In the church they sweetly sing.
The scene unchanged since yesteryear,
Flowers miraculously appear,
STOP- just please take it in,
The world's not all despair and sin.
Fills the heart with great elation,
To sit here in meditation
