Counting Bikes

Lois at our improvised bike counting station at Oracle Rd and Rancho Vistoso Blvd.

We were there from 7 to 10 am on Saturday and on Sunday. Count was 254 bikes on Saturday and 378 on Sunday. About 20 % of the riders were ladies. This was an especially busy intersection because many people are training for El Tour de Tucson.

Also today in town was the first Mt Lemmon Marathon. It is 26.2 miles and goes up through four climate zones from about 3000 ft elevation in Tucson to nearly 8300 ft elevation at Sumerhaven. There is over 6000 ft of elevation gain because there are some downhills near the top.

Also we get a view of the 12 foot wide bike shoulders that we love so much.
