Pukeko

Not the best of photos - unfortunately doesn't show the long spindly red legs that the pukeko is known for, but the best he would let me take. He headed off into the grass when we pulled up on the side of the road - I think he thought I couldn't see him if he stayed in the grass. Hmmm, maybe not the brightest of birds intellectually but definitely colourful anyway.
