Aftershock

I must admit to being completely frustrated with Mr Richter and his scale. Although yesterday's aftershock was "only" a 5.0-magnitude quake, it felt considerably stronger than that - sending small items toppling and turning my fridge into a demented singing beast. In the wider community, the ground-shaking was violent enough to cut power and burst water mains. Some buildings suffered minor damage and further liquefaction occurred in vulnerable areas. Taking my usual route to the supermarket this evening, the additional damage is quite obvious - mostly to older masonry structures, including this scalloped brick wall in Fendalton.
