Mandalam

This is an invitation to the opening - tonight - of an exhibition at my favourite gallery in the city. Jasmine Watson is a New Zealand jeweller, based in Wellington, who is best known for her work as principal jeweller/jewellery designer for Peter Jackson's The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Her designs are quite elaborate, but are wrought with such precision that the overall effect is one of simplicity - almost minimalism. Many of her pieces have an oriental quality, those being exhibited at The National are inspired by the concentric form of the mandala.
