Todays walk took us on a visit to the churches of Bury St Edmunds. As we passed through the grave yard betwixt the parish church of "St Marys" and the cathedral church of "St James" we came across this grave stone, the inscription is as follows:

Pause at This Humble Stone of Records
The fall of unguarded Youth
By the Allurements of vice
And the treacherous snares of seduction
Sarah Lloyd
On the 23rd April 1800
In the 22nd year of her age
Suffered a just but ignominious
DEATH
For admitting her abandoned seducer
Into the dwelling house of her mistress
In the night of the 3rd of October 1799
And becoming the instrument in his hands
of the crimes of robbery and house burning
These were her last words
"May my example be a warning to thousands"

PS: Beware all ye of unguarded youth!!
