Today's the day ................... to clear the kitchen
A kitchen is a very misleading place. It looks as if it would be a very easy place to clear but it's a bit like an iceberg - most of it is below the surface. In this case - the work surface - hiding in the cupboards and the drawers.
And if you start getting everything out, you realise that over the years you have gathered mountains of glasses, crockery, cutlery, pans, casserole dishes, baking trays and all sorts of kitchen gadgets. We found this plastic thing, which looked like it had to have something to do with slices of bread - possibly a toasted sandwich maker? But it was made of plastic so I don't think it could have been heated in any way. It completely foxed us - no-one could remember buying it and no-one could work out what it was for ..........
There were nice things of course - pottery pots remembered from childhood when they were thought to be very chic. There was a whole set of lovely crockery that had somehow got to the back of the cupboard, round the corner and had been completely forgotten about.
Should this thing be kept? Should this be re-cycled - should this go to the charity shop - should this be chucked out?? We're all completely exhausted!!
Next week, the slate will be wiped clean - and the new kitchen will start .........
