Thistle Down

Little Old Corn-Field

Little Old Corn-field,
With tassels of red.
Vein streaked leaves,
Where your heart has bled.

I gave you water,
And planted you late.
I thought you'd be ready,
And I'd not have to wait.

For your luscious ears,
in maturity was full.
When I...your husks,
Tried hard to pull.

But the frosts waited,
And growth did enhance.
In your little Old Corn-field,
You was given a chance.

Little Old Corn-field,
With your candy striped treat.
You made it so delicious,
And just right to eat.
