New Toys
Been in the band at church this morning, playing my fingers off, and got home to find that a cold had beaten me home. Feel quite bleurgh now. But Steve got the fire going and Ben opened a couple more presents and we have nibbled our way through the day - cake and waffles and garlic bread and fishfinger sandwiches (Ben doesn't appear to like fishfingers so he has hula hoops and ham for dinner) - until Steve went out babysitting and I put Ben to bed.
(Steve's babysitting was fun. Nat woke up about 10 minutes after his mum and dad went out: thud thud thud, "where's my mummy and daddy?" So Steve went up and said hello, Nat replied "I want my mummy and daddy." Mummy and daddy have gone out, they'll be back later. Do you want a story? "No I want to go to bed." Go to bed then! "Ok." So he got into bed, pulled the duvet over him, and went to sleep!)
Used up the last of the wood pile now, going to have to arrange a delivery of coal I think, our fireplace is a coal fireplace not a wood burning grate. Wood smells so much nicer though...
I didn't take many pictures during the afternoon because I expected to take pictures during the Skype calls to Ben's grandparents - we got the drumkit out at Ben's request (it seems that a small drum and a tub of soft stuff moulds is not a good enough substitute for a drumkit) (actually request is a bit tame - demand is more accurate) and then completely forgot! I blame my cold :( and the fact that Ben is just so entertaining that all thoughts of photographing him just went out of my head! Have just been enjoying his drumming.
Last night we were subjected to two and a half hours of drumming. Solid. Libby came round and babysat while we went out to a meeting, and I think even though she did well in teaching him "gentle" drumming, she still endured another half an hour or so! Video of the drummer boy here :) But Ben was cute even after going to bed. When he woke up in the night, instead of coming to find us, he got out of bed moaning and crying, and huddled in the corner next to his bed calling for Libby! He obviously realised that she was looking after him and expected her to come and see him. Very sweet.
Feel a bit all over the place today. Can't hold a thought in my head so am afraid this is all a bit waffly, much like my lunch....
