Gospel Choir v Rigid Catholicism Mash-Up
Going to church in Dakar is a fusion between watching The London Community Gospel Choir at Glastonbury and reciting creed after creed at my Catholic primary school. Except here of course, the French prevented me from doing the reciting bit.
There are around 300,000 Catholics in Senegal - and at least 1,000 of them were in this church. I took this photo half an hour before the service began. It was quite refreshing during the mass to hear the minaret's call to prayer down the road. And also quite refreshing to see the hundreds of people loving church!
