NZ Clematis petriei

Mum and I have been enjoying the joys of Spring in a nearby native park. Today nothing brightly coloured or big, just a little bit of New Zealand in a more delicate form.

This is the NZ Clematis petriei, named after the Scottish botanist Donald Petrie.
It is a native of the South Island where it occurs to the east of the Southern Alps.
It has single, small nodding scented greenish-yellow flowers with thin, smooth leathery leaves. The petals are broad but become narrower with age. Its delicate and quite small and I think a little like a star. This looks to be a young flower.

I have been looking for this little gem for a while but it took Mums eyes to spot it, thanks Mum :) We both were quite excited!

A little bit of New Zealand for you - enjoy :)
