Albanian church interior in Kish.

Visited this beautiful 12th century church in Kish today. It's thought to be the oldest church in the region, but no longer operates as one. Caucasian Albania has nothing to do with modern day Albania, it was the state that existed in Azerbaijan before the Arab conquest around the 8th century (the dates and exact territorial lines are blurred - communities in Kish and other places in the foothills of the Caucasus mountains were more insulated from the power struggles going on elsewhere in the area.
