colour everywhere, everywhere

analysis:
this festival schedule attempts to convey a large amount of information in a concise manner with the use of colour coding, but i am finding it slightly confusing. each day for the duration of the festival is assigned a specific colour, i.e. 'thursday' is sitting on top of a bright pink rounded-corner rectangle, but unfortunately, they also use the same, or a very similar shade of bright pink for the names of the event venues. they also assign the colour black to 'sunday', but sadly, that is also the schedule's background colour.
each event category is designated a colour, with 'music' as orange, 'film' as yellow, 'visual arts' as green, and 'comedy' as blue. each category is mentioned if it happens to be included in the list of events for every location. however, occasionally, the lists of events are blocked in a coloured box: for example, the venue 'fix sixty' has music, film, and visual art events running on thursday, but all the events are enclosed in a 'music'-orange rounded-corner box. why is that??
on the opposite page to the right of the schedule shown above (sorry, not photographed), is a map of the city, with each venue pinpointed with an encircled number. adding to the confusion is that the circles are coloured according to what day the location falls under, however, there are several locations that falls under more than one festival day. so how do they decide what colour a cirlcle should be?
fail.
