Showing Off!

The beach at Ventura has no lack of birds. The seagull and pigeon population was abundant.

After sleeping all night to the sound of waves and a lovely fire in the fireplace, we woke early to a spectacular morning. Southern California's weather is heating-up again, plus the high dry winds from the northeast are coming. Those winds usually cause the view to be tremendous and it was this morning.

I did not know until this evening (when the photos were downloaded from the camera) that Mr. Fun had a party on our balcony this morning while I was in the bathroom showering, dressing, and getting ready for the day.

He crumbled and scattered one of the breakfast muffins on our balcony for the birds. I'm sure the hotel would not recommend feeding the birds, especially right on the balcony of our room. So several of the photos show at least a dozen of his "bird friends" enjoying breakfast there on the balcony. When I saw those I just laughed out-loud. He is so crazy! When I came out of the bathroom this morning, the screen door to the balcony was pulled shut, earlier it was standing wide open. He must have had to close it because all his feathered buddies would have followed him in when the food was gone.

Several of today's photos are quite good of the view north, and one of those would be my choice for the day, but then I saw this one which combines one of our "balcony bird friends" and the distant view northward. It is a bit out of focus. Honestly, I'll have a conversation with Mr. Fun later about the importance of "focus" and all that photographer stuff (not really).

I just thought it was more than cute that he got one of the "friends" to show off for the camera!

We've had a great weekend away. We left here at the entrance to the weekend with a full tank of fuel in our vehicle, but we were both running on empty. We've come home refreshed and with an entire gallery of memories for our personal museum. We also think we were successful in finding a beach house to rent for our January vacation with my sister.

Yes, there's "homework" and "catch-up" to do because we were gone, but we'll chip away at those things in the next couple days. Before doing that we're going to make sure our empty suitcases are put away, the laundry is done, and our signatures and the word "Terrific!" are written on the folder of this past weekend.

So we're ready now to once again start takin' care of business!
