Up we go

I was brought up by a very strong mother. She always underlined the importance of being positive, getting on with life, making the best of things, following your own wisdom, seeing the best in others and doing your best at all times.

Her words of wisdom have stood me in good stead so far in this life. It's not always easy but I really do, do my best.

Today, I started my day on a wobble. I really missed her. I think it's that feeling of wanting to be soothed by your mum and to be told everything will be alright when you feel inwardly shaky. I suppose sometimes it's wanting someone to look after you too, to put their arm around you and give you a cuddle.

But I got on with it, rolled up my sleeves and had a good day. And I realised a lot of that was thanks to her despite her not being here in person.

These steps were what greeted me as I left my friend's flat this morning.

I sized them up and thought - well here we go!!
