Bonfire Party

Tonight we headed off to the south of the island for a bonfire party. As well as a huge bonfire, there were fireworks, excellent soups, homebakes, treacle toffee, toffee apples and hot punch! Really well organised, in the old wall there were jam jars with candles in them, lighting your way to the old byre, where all the food was laid out.

The best part of it was the children - lots of them there, and most of them had never been to a big bonfire party before and they were so thrilled with everything! Their excitement was infectious, as was their amazement at every exploding firework, cascade of bright stars and falling of shining rain of sparks.

It was to raise money for their Christmas party, so there'll be more excitement in store for them!

Ollie stayed at home - not a great fan of bangs and explosions! He's a happy dog these days as the local shop now gets fresh bones from the butchers every Friday!
