Man painting up on the roof

No health and safety in place. It was a really high roof although you can't tell really from this picture.

I'm finding my lack of technical knowledge a hassle now - in real life I could see the mountains of Africa on the horizon but have no idea how to make them be seen on the photo. Also there was an amazing red sky last night but i didn't even try to take a pic of it as I knew I wouldn't be able to show it properly. Maybe I should start off by reading the instructions to my camera??
