Looking for the light

Very little sunlight reaches the houses in these narrow village streets during winter. Walking along this street this morning, I realised how lucky we are to live in a placette, a little place, where the houses opposite are far enough away not to block our light.

I tried to show in this photo the way the houses lean towards each other above street level, making them even closer but also allowing the street to be a bit wider.
