Thistle Down

By Ethel

Thought

Just seeing the sun,
Veiled in a spot.
In a bright sea of color,
Is food for thought.

The lay of the land,
For a price can be bought.
Will it grow to a city,
Is food for thought.

An electrical storm,
Where the elements have wrought.
With lightning and thunder,
Is food for thought.

A ledger old,
With an ancient plot.
By the hand of a Sage,
Is food for thought.

God's in his heavens,
His council it taught.
What the scriptures reveal,
Is food for thought.

True knowledge is wisdom,
And the wealth of it sought.
Let the feaster...keep feasting,
On morsels of thought.

A heart full of love,
What measure of thought?
If a neighbor is hungry,
How much have you got?
