Impressions
Seeing this ghost of a leaf reminded me of a well-known Russian proverb:
The fall of a leaf is a whisper to the living
It tells us that life is short and that nothing lasts forever, so make the very best of it. And leave something behind worth remembering.
Wise thoughts indeed. And turning 50 certainly makes you realise how important it is to make every day count.
Anyway, I hope I make an impression as lasting as the leaf that once inhabited this pavement before being swept away by Bristol City Council.
In fact, thinking back to when I took the picture, I certainly registered in the minds of a couple of people. I'm sure they thought I was completely crackers kneeling on a city centre pavement taking close-ups of paving slabs.
And there was a long line of queuing traffic right next to the pavement - so I'm crackers times 100.
Better make the most of life before I'm locked away!
