Cast adrift

Today was Black Wednesday - the day it was revealed who would be made redundant.

I'm one of the fortunate ones, but it's not a time for celebration. I feel desperately sorry for those 26 people who are losing their jobs.

They are decent people and will be sorely missed. To think they are leaving just before Christmas is terribly sad.

This scene summed up the feeling of bleak emptiness.
