Geese in the wild West Allen Valley

Wednesday is the day when I walk with Haltwhistle walking group. I missed last week and will miss the next 2 because I'm going to India, so I was determined to go today. B had a lovely walk prepared for us in the West Allen valley (very pretty area) but the winds were gale force. We could not go high onto the moors and had to stay low down.

L noticed the geese who were trying to shelter amongst some bushes. You can't tell from the image, but they really could not walk forwards because of the wind.

I like the pale differently coloured beaks and the beautiful plumage. Where will they be on Christmas Day I wonder??
