Errol Brickworks
Filler blip time today. Part of my "not everything on blipfoto has to be creative or interesting to all" series ;)
Seriously, sometimes i just like popping out and taking shots for no other reason than to go back and do a bit of history research and reading to go along with the blip.
This time its Errol Brickworks. There was a works in one form or another in Errol since the 1870s, using clay from the local area to make bricks which were used at Stirling Castle, the Museum of Scotland, the Palace of Holyrood and many other historic sites.
Sadly, it closed in 2008 and much of the site has now been cleared. There's still two stacks remaining, and the old ovens and a couple of buildings that I'll blip. Some historical images are available of what the old site used to look like
Luckily someone managed to get in and take shots prior to the site being flattened which can be seen here.
I'll go back and take some more blips for comparison.
