Sunday Afternoon Stroll

R made us a lovely chicken roast dinner which afterwards to burn it off we went for a stroll for over 9 miles! Having stopped for a drink half way we ended up coming back as the light was fading but along the main footpath... With just over a mile to go and still walking in the middle of the path I suddenly found myself with my right leg thigh deep in a hole full of mud!!! There was no warning or tied off area just your bog (excuse the pun) standard path albeit covered in mud... not unusual for this path. So how on earth you were supposed to avoid it in not sure! Even in the full light of day you would not have known it was a hole! Needless to say I then had to walk over a mile up to my thigh in mud and in pain from my knee down to my foot as well as my leg being cold and wet. It was embarrassing too as we were walking along next to a main high way most of which was lit with street lamps, what I looked like with one leg all muddied up is beyond me. It felt humiliating. A complaint to the council will be necessary.
