The (not so) quiet life

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

After two days of excavations the midden is now looking vaguely presentable. Just in time for the husband to arrive back and dump all his bags in my nicely hoovered hall. Don't honestly know why I expected anything else, must just be my naturally optimistic personality.

After much anticipation from all of Satans Minions it was finally the Christmas Spectacular at the Falls of Shin (Mr Al Fayeds Highland money spinner). We were promised Santa, fire dancers, hog roasts, mulled wine, mince pies, fireworks and lots of Christmas spirit. Unfortunately it was minus one, almost pitch black, the fire dancers nearly set themselves (and the rather unimpressed crowd) alight on more than one occassion, both the mince pies and mulled wine failed to materialise and Santa was so unenthusiastic you could be forgiven for thinking he was clinically depressed. Don't think I need comment on the Christmas spirit. Still the Minions seemed delighted with their gifts and were happy to head home early rather than wait about for another hour for the fireworks. This pleased the grown ups no end as we were at risk of losing toes to frostbite and had plenty of alcohol waiting back at the house.
