Edinburgh City Centre

First thing I did when I got up this morning was to check my work email and found an email saying that the University is closed for the whole day! Yey, I was so relieved because I still have the after effects of that migraine today and was really not up for work. So I had an easy day, catching up with the kids (who were also off school today) and catching up on sleep. After lunch we took the sledge up Calton hill.

Although I have lived here more or less all my life I still can't get over how lucky we are - Calton hill, in the centre of Edinburgh and here in this photo - if you didn't know the city, you'd never know. Then the light today (I go on about light a lot I know) was incredible at this particularly moment. Big, low snow clouds to the east with the afternoon low sun hitting them... Just amazing.

Lots of beautiful photos again today, but this one with that incredible light stood out. I also had another today which wasn't such a good photo, but it was of people helping a taxi which had got stuck in the snow. I love that about people we're social creatures who help each other out. There's so much bad in the world, but so much good too. The snow brings out the best in people.
