Reaching for Orbs.

Beth and I went to a really great art show tonight. It was art from students that were in a class I guest spoke for. Just for two of their classes but I felt a bit connected to their work. I was terrifically pleased with their final pieces.
The class was designed to show photography in ways other than a white mat with a black frame on the wall. It pushed the sculptural (that?s where I came in) and Non-Traditional means of display. The professor of the class has a special talent in this area, and is perfect for the students. I think the photographers in this class really benefited from what they learned.
Their work sure did.
As a show it knocked the socks off of almost any student show I have ever been to. Very Good Stuff.
This is of an installation including some sculptural parts and some video elements as well. The video shone on the wall but these hanging glass spheres played with the light and made really interesting shapes and shadows. This is one of my past Instructors, and now colleagues, playing with the orbs making the light dance on the walls. She was playing like she was doing it for her children (bottom left shadow and girl to the right) but I know she was just having a great time for herself!
Many other pieces were worth Blipping, but you know the drill!
