White and Wet

Why do engineers always wear white coveralls? I have absolutely no clue. Against the heat? could be, but there is hardly any sunshine in the engineroom. It is obviousthat you will notic grease and oilstains on a white coverall earlier than on a black one. Medical personnel use white to give patients a impression of working spotlessly clean. That might be true, but it is hard to believe these guys have anything in common with let's say a gynecologist.
