Looks Good To Me

Steve's Salmon

I went to have my bone density checked this morning. The previous check a couple of years ago (after a fracture of my fibula) indicated a slight loss, but today I was told I'm just as dense as I was last time.

On my way home I stopped at the County Courthouse in Bellingham to pick up new license tabs for the Trooper. I parked next to the Whatcom Creek Salmon Art Trail, and after taking care of business I went looking for a blip on the trail. The sun was still fighting its way through the morning fog, so it wasn't very bright, but the light was good for photographing art work.

This stainless steel salmon is one of several next to the trail. They were created by Steve Seymour, a biologist employed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife . As the designated Watershed Steward for Whatcom County, Steve provides valuable assistance to the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) in planning and obtaining permits for restoration projects, as well as helping to educate students, other volunteer groups, and the general public about habitat restoration.

Steve is well respected in the salmon restoration community and is a generous NSEA supporter. Each year he donates one of his sculptures to NSEA's annual fundraising event. They're all different, but every one is beautiful.

Thanks, Steve, for all you do for salmon.
