The wall
Day 2 in York and the sun was shining - hooray!
Breakfast in the hotel was a bit rubbish (they managed to run out of both coffee mugs AND fruit juice glasses AND teaspoons AND bread for toast, all at the same time), still I got my coffee in the end and that's the main thing.
Checked out the hotel, then continued with our shopping and wandering. York is just so lovely at this time of year. The streets are decorated beautifully, there are lots of markets, parades and carol singers around and it just has a lovely cosy, Yuletide feeling to it.
Finally stopped for a leisurely lunch then had another final wander round the shops before heading out of the city under the Roman walls and off to the station.
Train arrived on time - yay!
But we had seats at a table instead of the airline seats that we'd asked for - BOOOOOOOO!
So - a very cramped journey home with a very very grumpy sister ensued - She doesn't cope well with 'personal space' invasions and we'd asked for airline seats so we'd not be taking up other people's space with our shopping bags.
Oh well - a bit of a downslip at the end of an otherwise great weekend.
And now I am home, in my pyjamas with a glass of wine, shopping bags around me and still to be unpacked. But I am smiling, it was a good weekend!
