Folk Me!

Butlins Skegness, their very first folk festival. Lots of slightly bemused (but happy) folkies (performers and punters) wandering around.
Our accommodation can be best be described as pre-loved - tough love.

It's not a true folk festival but nobody seems to mind. Last night, we had Gary Fletcher (Blues) Pie (?) & The Oyster Band. All were great. When Gary Fletcher asked the audience if anyone had been to Butlins before, he was met with silence, so we are all Butlins Virgins.

The pic is of a guitarist doll belonging to Pie. The sewing machine is a musical instrument which Brian the guitarist invented (as well as building all his guitars, which were weird and wonderful). When he turned the sewing machine handle, the doll would start playing her guitar for a second or two before falling off her stage. That would account for her startled look or maybe it was the pin inserted into her derriere to make her play. Art can be cruel..

By the way - we can't access much in the way of internet - Butlitz' a bit like China (but without the sense of humour) when it comes to internet censorship: No YouTube or mp3 streaming sites and who knows what else they are protecting us from.
