All Aboard the Polar Express

Its a tradition for us, started 3 years ago, to take Cameron along to Bo'ness, about 45 mins from Perth, for his ride on the Polar Express, also known as the Santa Train!

This line, which runs to an old clay mine about 5 miles out of Bo'ness is run by vollunteers who are passionate about steam trains and spend most of their time restoring these beauties to their former glory. The station has old memoribilia on the walls - it's like stepping into the past when steam trains were kings and queens of the tracks (they all had names). I love going as all the vollunteers dress up in festive garb and there is singing on the train, oranges for the children, and best of all, Santa visits each and every child as the train chugs along the track, and after a brief chat, gives them a gift. Even Ben at 8 weeks old got a gift of 2 rubber ducks. It's a great atmosphere, and as so popular, booking months ago is essential!

It's just a such a lovely trip. Here is a front on picture of the Polar Express taken from the bridge at the entrance to the station. Cameron loved as we stood on this bridge we were encased in steam!
