Advent Calendar Day 8 - A day of contrasts
This photo was taken this morning on the way into work and it is the sculpture by the Mexican artist Lourdes Cue called Windows on the Sea - it was part of International Young Sculptures Competition, Aberdeen, Scotland. Part of the collection of Mobil Oil Co. Aberdeen, Scotland. Made from Granite, sea water, stones found in the shore of the North Sea. The stones that were originally in front of the sculptures have gone but the sculpture still stands after 24 years.
Today was a day of great sadness but also great joy - sometimes life is like that. I attended a memorial service at lunch time for a colleague who died aged just 50 and in the afternoon I facilitated a focus group with final year students who had been teaching other students Basic Life Support. Their enthusiasm and commitment were inspiring and relaxing with them over a buffet supper was a marvellous antidote to the earlier sadness. The day ended with a set of photos from a colleague who has just become a granny for the first time and who is visiting her daughter and her family who live in Mexico ....
