Nuthatch
These birds are the 'old faithful' for me. They always oblige whenever I take them seed, as I did today. This one is sporting a 'new ring', the activities of the bird ringers in the wood yesterday. They told me that the main use of ringing data nowadays is to gauge survival rates among birds from all different sorts of habitats. This is very useful for conservationists because it gives them good and reliable data which they can use to direct resources to the most critical areas and species.
