Cool web
A day of freezing fog, with a maximum temperature of -5.5C. The whole world was covered with crystals of ice, including this delicate spider's web, on the back of our old car. We even had a brief ice shower this morning - tiny needle-like crystals falling from the sky.
The hoar frost was so spectacular that I actually managed to get all three boys out for a dog walk. As soon as we arrived at the rowing lake they insisted on testing the ice, and found that it was over 15cm deep at the edges and safe to skate on. Unfortunately Ben did a spectacular backward fall, and landed on his coccyx, but I promised I wouldn't blip the photo of him when he was down.
Apart from the walk it's been a bit of a trying day. Pete has flu and a nasty chest infection, and I spent ages waiting for the emergency doctor to ring back. However, at least when she did call she was willing to prescribe antibiotics without me having to take him to the surgery. I also managed to smash the cafetiere and then to top it all the dog was sick!
However this evening we had a very nice home-cooked Chinese meal to belatedly celebrate Chris's 20th birthday. It was just such a shame that Pete couldn't join us.
