Lost in the post

The Royal Mail attempted to deliver a parcel on Tuesday 7th December. Unfortunately we were out. On Wednesday the postman put the slip through the door and I went online to rearrange delivery. Thursday I got a call from a man at the Royal Mail saying that unfortunately due to the bad weather they wouldn't be dooing redeliveries but for £1.50 a could collect it from my local post office, it would be there by Saturday.

Yesterday I finally got to the post office. I stood in line for 20 minutes, I got to the counter, I was told my parcel wasn't there and I'd need to ring the sorting office. Well, I spent nearly an hour listening to the phone ring out every time I tried to dial and spent about 20 minutes trying to reach a person on the automated line.

Today I tried the "I'd like to make a complaint" line. I talked to a very nice man who laughed and commiserated about the situation. South Gyle aren't answering their phones, I could try them on one of their other lines (470 6803 in case you're in a similar situation). Well I tried their other line, I got passed around a few people before being told they had no idea where my parcel was but if I rebooked it in for redelivery it would get logged in the system again when they found it.
