Day 19
Rule #20 When you've got to go, you've got to go
So, after telling J a million times(!) that she was going to stub her toe if she didn't look where she was going, J stubbed her toe badly on a step she didn't see. The words 'I told you so' were barely out of my mouth when she hit me. Anyway, it gave me a chance to practice my first aid skills.
And then, it was time to head home. We girded our loins, and we were off ..... We left Boipeba at 6.30 in the morning by speedboat to the mainland. The day was grey, and midway we were hit by a tropical thunderstorm. We got soaked, yuck. An hour later we arrived on the mainland to meet Augusto, our intrepid driver. Boy he goes quick. 2 hours later (via an interesting drive overland) we had arrived at the ferry terminal for the hours crossing, the off the ferry and through Salvador to the airport. Traffic regulations do not apply in Salvador, it was hairy with Augusto weaving in and out of traffic at high speed. At the airport, we hung around waiting to get the plane to Sao Paulo, then Sao Paulo to Paris - an 11 hour flight, but we had to wait 2 hours on the runway (for some reason) .... to be continued
